  1. Phil,
I listen to you every day. Commenting on yesterday's show. I was raised by a white alcoholic mother who grew up during the depression, she was the daughter of a share cropper and picked cotton along side of slaves.

I went to work when I was 13 mopping floors to help pay bills. Dropped out of school in 10th grade. Married at 20 to a cheater, 2 kids, what is a white southern girl to do?? I could have been poor pitiful me but I wanted more. As a single parent with an autistic 3 yr old and an 18 month old I never applied for assistance, I worked hard waiting tables, factory, bar tending, studied, moved up. Happily 27 years later I am a Corporate Accountant. You are correct, being oppressed is not an excuse.....you are in control of your life and how you succeed.
